Treating PIM as an IT project. PIM touches product management, marketing, sales, and sometimes procurement and compliance. IT can own the technical implementation, but the business functions who will use the system need active involvement from the start. A system designed by IT without that input will fit IT's interpretation of what product editors need, not what they actually need.
