What is a Product Listing?

Product Listing Definition

A Product Listing is the presentation of a single product on a sales channel, a marketplace, webshop, or retailer site, assembled from the product's title, description, images, attributes, and price. It is the channel-facing counterpart to the internal product page: the same product data, formatted to meet the rules and layout of the destination.

Why do product listings matter?

Every channel has its own required fields, character limits, image specifications, and category structure. A listing that meets those rules ranks and converts; one that does not may be suppressed or rejected. Because the same product is listed across many channels, keeping each listing accurate and consistent is a core challenge that a PIM is built to solve.

How do they work in a PIM?

In a PIM system, a product listing is generated by mapping central product data to a channel's specific requirements, then published through syndication or a feed. Channel-specific content lets titles, descriptions, and images be tailored per destination without duplicating the underlying record, so one governed source produces correctly formatted listings everywhere the product is sold.
